Awards & Grants
A priority action of the SCM to promote the activity and knowledge of mathematics is to award prizes for mathematical works in different areas and specializations, awards aimed mainly at a young audience.
Some are part of the IEC's prize list, while others are awarded in collaboration with other entities or institutions. We also publicize the prizes and travel grants of the Ferran Sunyer i Balaguer Foundation.

Prizes of the SCM and the SECCT of the IEC
The Evaristé Galois Prize (1811-1832), established in 1962, is aimed at master's or doctoral students for a research, bibliographic, or essay work on mathematics.
IEC Prize of the Section of Sciences and Technology of Mathematics, in honor of Assumpció Català i Poch, for a doctoral thesis or research work.
Established in 1979.
International prize offered by the SCM, under the patronage of Professor Carles Simó, to recognize authorship of international research works in the area of dynamical systems. Biennial.
1st edition in 2015.
Joint prize of the SCM, FEEMCAT, SEMCV Al-khwarizmi, and SBM Xeix, to promote interest in improving teaching activity. Annual.
Created in 2001 to promote strategic mathematics activities, with economic resources derived from the 3ECM, the Third European Congress of Mathematics of the European Mathematical Society, held in Barcelona in July 2000. Funded by the SCM from 2016.
Prizes of the Ferran Sunyer i Balaguer Foundation, travel grants, and subsidies
International prize established in 1992 by the Ferran Sunyer i Balaguer Foundation. Offered for a monograph written in English that presents the most outstanding results in an area of mathematics where recent advances have been made.
The prize endowment, provided by the Ferran Sunyer i Balaguer Foundation, is fifteen thousand euros (€15,000). The winning work will be published in the «Progress in Mathematics» collection by Birkhäuser.
Prize established in 2008 by the FFSB, with the aim of stimulating the presence of mathematics in the media.
Grants to strengthen training, offered to the best study or mathematical research projects of 3rd-4th year doctoral students. Subsidies to promote Catalan mathematics master's degrees.

Prizes for works by young non-university students
The SCM collaborates in mathematics-related prizes organized by other entities, either with financial support or participation in evaluation and the jury.
We also publicize them to offer more opportunities to interested participants.
Planter de Sondeigs i experiments
Organized by: Faculty of Mathematics and Statistics of the UPC, Faculty of Economics and Business of the UB, and Faculty of Sciences of the UAB.
The goal is to spark curiosity and foster students' interest in statistics, and to encourage educational work in secondary schools.
Annual call, since the 2009-2010 academic year.
For individual works or groups of up to 5 people, for ESO and high school students, supervised by teachers from their school.

Prizes for high school research projects (TdR)
The most notable prizes that include mathematics works are the following.
- Argó Prize
Organized within the framework of the Argó Program of the UAB, annually since 2003-2004. For high school research projects and higher-level vocational training projects.

Called by the Faculty of Mathematics and Statistics of the UPC, annually, since the 2003-2004 academic year. For high school students who have done research work on a topic related to mathematics.

Called annually by the Government of the Generalitat of Catalonia since 1982. The objective of the PRJ is to awaken scientific vocations among young students in the country.
For all fields of knowledge, including mathematics.
