«The Function of Data»
The availability of large volumes of data and its practical utility is today beyond doubt in all fields of knowledge, both in the physical and natural sciences and in the humanities.
The Catalan Society of Mathematics (SCM), the Catalan Society of Statistics (SoCE), and the Catalan Association of Artificial Intelligence (ACIA) collaborate by jointly organizing this series of conferences for the promotion and dissemination of data analysis as a useful tool at the service of Catalan society and all its scientific, technological, business, and social sectors.
The starting point was in November 2019, when the SCM and SoCE jointly organized the conference «The Function of Data» dedicated to promoting the activity of mathematics and statistics in the business world. In the following edition, a specific application area was defined to allow for deeper exploration, and the Catalan Association of Artificial Intelligence (ACIA) joined the organization. Since then, the function of data has been addressed in various fields.

1st Conference «The Role of Data«

Jointly organized by SCM and SoCE to promote the activity of mathematics and statistics in the business world.
The first part consisted of one-hour workshops aimed at providing tools, some more well-known and others less so, to help companies work with their data. In the second part, there were talks to explain from the business world their vision and experience regarding the use of mathematics and statistics.
