Kangaroo Poster Contest

This is the logo designed for Le Kangourou sans frontières by Raoul Raba, painter and sculptor, winner of the Prix de Rome in 1955.

  • In the early years of the SCM Kangaroo, the graphic image was a variation of the official design, the most notable of which was a work by students of the Institut Bernat Metge in Barcelona, led by the unforgettable teacher Montserrat Rasclosa.
  • Then, at the end of 2001, in the context of Kangaroo-2002, the first poster contest was called to choose the design that would serve as the identifier for our test for the 2002 and 2003 editions.

  • The jury of the contest has decided to award the prize to the poster registered with the password RM45FAB.
    • The jury highlighted the interesting mathematical idea, which links the radii of the quadrants that make up the kangaroo's tail to the Fibonacci sequence.

  1. Rules of the 10th Kangaroo Poster Contest (2026).
  2. Eligible to participate in the contest: students in 3rd or 4th year of ESO, baccalaureate, or vocational training cycles at any center within the geographical scope where the SCM Kangaroo takes place (in its three parallel editions: Catalonia, Balearic Islands, Valencian Country).
  3. Designs can be made individually or, only exceptionally, in work groups. Each participant can submit several designs., The submission deadline , which ended on Saint George's Day of the year 2026,.
  4. has been extended until April 30, 2026
    • The poster must include:
    • some graphic reference to the Kangaroo the text Prova Cangur 2027 (which can also be abbreviated if convenient for the design, such as Cangur-27 SCM or other options at the author's discretion). Alternatively, you can opt for  o XXXII-Cangur.

  5. a textual or graphic reference to the fact that the test is organized by the Societat Catalana de Matemàtiques (SCM). The official logo of the entity can be downloaded from the website http://scm.iec.cat.
  6. The geometric format of the poster is free. Preferably in a document with DIN proportion sizes, horizontal or landscape, as the poster will be published.
  7. Link to the form to submit a poster for the contest.
  8. After the submission deadline for designs ends, it will be assessed whether it is appropriate to publish a virtual (anonymous) exhibition of all submitted works.
  9. The SCM will appoint a jury, which will seek advice from secondary and university teachers or graphic design specialists for the contest decision.
  10. In the jury's evaluation, the need to be able to convert the design to a vector format will be taken into account, and it will also be essential to be able to make variations to adapt it to subsequent editions, considering that the winning poster will be used for Kangaroo-2027 and, if the jury deems it appropriate, will be adapted for Kangaroo 2028 and Kangaroo 2029. For these new versions, the author of the winning design must provide the appropriate fonts for adapting the text appearing on the poster. Likewise, they should collaborate, if necessary, in format adaptations, such as vertical -> landscape or landscape -> vertical.
  11. Prizes: the jury will award a prize (the prize may eventually be replaced by some honorable mentions or the contest declared void.)
  12. The verdict of the contest will be made public through this SCM website, and the prize will be awarded at the solemn closing ceremony of the 31st Kangaroo-SCM, on the date and at the place that will be duly announced.
  13. The jury will interpret the rules in case of doubt and its decisions are final.
  14. Participation in this contest implies acceptance of these rules.
