Jezabel Curbelo receives the 2026 ECCOMAS Jacques-Louis Lions Award

Jezabel Curbelo, full professor at the Department of Mathematics of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), has been awarded the ECCOMAS Jacques-Louis Lions Prize 2026 for young researchers.

The award is granted by the European Community on Computational Methods in Applied Sciences (ECCOMAS) and recognizes excellent contributions in the field of computational mathematics. In this edition, ECCOMAS has awarded the prize to Curbelo for her outstanding contributions to the development and application of advanced mathematical tools.

Jezabel Curbelo's candidacy was presented by the Spanish Society of Applied Mathematics (SeMA). The selection of ECCOMAS awards is made from nominations from the scientific community and through independent committees made up of previous awardees and representatives of its technical committees.

The Jacques-Louis Lions Prize is named after the French mathematician Jacques-Louis Lions and is one of the distinctions that ECCOMAS grants to young researchers in computational engineering sciences and computational mathematics.

This international recognition highlights the quality and projection of research in computational mathematics developed in Catalonia.
