CATALAN MATHEMATICS OLYMPIAD

On December 16 and 17, 2022, the tests of the Catalan Mathematical Olympiad were held in Barcelona, Girona, and Tarragona.

The nine award winners represent Catalonia at the 2023 Spanish Mathematical Olympiad.

On March 10 and 11, 2023, the 59th Spanish Mathematical Olympiad was held in León, organized by the RSME.
The Catalan team consisted of the nine award winners from the Catalan Olympiad held last December: and it is fitting to offer a very heartfelt congratulations because they won six medals.

Observations:
  • The Catalan contestants who won gold medals placed
    1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 6th, respectively.
  • Roger Lidón and Ruben Carpenter have won gold medals at the Spanish Olympiad for the third year. Jordi Ferré also won a gold medal in 2022. All three were selected for the IMO.
  • Alèxia Escudero also won a medal in 2022.

The Spanish team for the 64th IMO (International Mathematical Olympiad) held in Chiba (Japan) in July 2023 consisted of: Roger Lidón Ardanuy (Catalonia), Ruben Carpenter (Catalonia), Jordi Ferré García (Catalonia), Guillem Beltran Cerezuela (Valencian Community), Darío Martínez Ramírez (Valencian Community), and Xavier Díaz Austrich (Catalonia).

The results were spectacular:

4 bronze medals: Roger Lidón, Darío Martínez, and Jordi Ferré

1 honorable mention (Guillem Beltran, Xavier Díaz). .

Pau Cantos already won an award in the 55th Olympiad and participated in the IMO.
According to the SCM archives, Roger Lidón is the first 3rd-year ESO student to win an award in the Catalan phase of the Olympiad. A very special congratulations.

– Guillem Ortiz Folguera, Marcel Augé Giribet and Joana Pech Alberich, bronze medals.
