This issue contains an article by Alessio Figalli on the Monge-Ampère equation, on the occasion of the Abel Prize awarded to Luis Caffarelli, an article by Carles Lladó and Josep M. Brunat on the mathematics of satins, and an article by Juanjo Rué on graph theory, winner of the 2023 Albert Dou Prize.
Alessio Figalli's article is part of the Mirror Articles project of the Institut d'Estudis Catalans, within the framework of the Plan to Strengthen the Catalan Language in the University and Research System of Catalonia, promoted by the Department of Research and Universities of the Government of Catalonia, which encourages the publication in Catalan of current articles of high scientific interest. The original article, titled «On the Monge-Ampère equation» and published in the journal Astérisque (vol. 1148, p. 477–504, doi: 10.24033/ast.1092), of the Société Mathématique de France, has been translated by Òscar Aznar Alemany and subsequently reviewed by the editors. The translation was done on the occasion of the awarding of the Abel Prize to Professor Luis Caffarelli in May 2023 in Oslo, partly for his contributions to the Monge-Ampère problem. This review by Professor Alessio Figalli (Fields Medal 2018) was chosen because, although it is more technical than the articles usually published in the Bulletin, it helps to understand this problem, the contributions made to it, and its current state.
