Registrations for Crazy about Mathematics 2027 will open on Monday, September 14. The program offers young people with an interest in mathematics the opportunity to get closer to current research, discover its applications, and participate in practical activities with professionals in the field.
Crazy about Mathematics is part of the program Crazy about Science of the Catalunya La Pedrera Foundation. The proposal has the collaboration of the Catalan Society of Mathematics, the Faculty of Mathematics and Statistics of the UPC, the Faculty of Sciences of the UAB, the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science of the UB, and the Centre for Mathematical Research.
A journey through current mathematical research
The course will run from January to June 2027 and will combine outreach sessions with practical workshops. Participants will be able to learn about different areas of mathematics up close, such as geometry, number theory, cryptography, topology, fractals, dynamical systems, game theory, or the mathematics of sound.
Through participatory proposals, the program invites young people to think, reason, build, and apply mathematical tools to various challenges. It will also allow them to discover how mathematics is involved in issues as present as cybersecurity, the study of the brain, or space travel.
Sessions at universities and research centers
The activities of Crazy about Mathematics 2027 will take place at various venues: the Faculty of Mathematics and Statistics of the UPC, the Faculty of Sciences of the UAB, the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science of the UB, and the Museum of Textiles and Water of Manresa.
