We celebrate together with the international mathematical community the day of women in mathematics, with the aim of highlighting the contributions of women in this field.
The date was chosen in honor of Maryam Mirzakhani, a young Iranian mathematician who received the Fields Medal in 2014. The proposal was presented by the women's committee of the Iranian Mathematical Society and was approved at the World Congress of Women in Mathematics, organized by the homonymous committee of the International Mathematical Union (IMU), a satellite event of the International Congress of Mathematicians (ICM) in 2018 in Rio de Janeiro.
As the Catalan Mathematical Society, we join this celebration with various activities that began last Sunday and will continue for several weeks.
