Abstract: The teaching of perpendicular bisectors in schools is usually limited to a theoretical explanation accompanied by the procedure to follow to draw them and, exceptionally, practical applications are taught. The objective of this activity, part of which is gamified, is for students to discover the usefulness of perpendicular bisectors, learn to interpret a Voronoi diagram, and analyze its strengths and limitations.
Review: Aleix Mestre Fernàndez, after completing the master's degree that qualified him to be a secondary and high school mathematics teacher, began working at the Museum of Mathematics of Catalonia (MMACA). There he began to understand and learn mathematics from a different perspective than what we are used to seeing. This year he has started working as a teacher at a high school in Catalonia.

Eulàlia Tramuns (MMACA), Mathematics and origami: a relationship without limits?

Abstract: What kind of relationship exists between mathematics and origami? Which parts of mathematics are involved in an origami model? In this talk we will answer these questions and illustrate them with practical examples. Additionally, we will see the great evolution that has occurred in this field in recent decades and reveal the power of origami as a geometric construction tool compared to the traditional ruler and compass.
Review: PhD in mathematics from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, specialized in the field of geometric constructions with research and teaching experience at all levels of the educational system, from early childhood to university, and she is dedicated to designing competency-based didactic resources that connect mathematics with origami and other areas. She has publications on these didactic resources that can be acquired. She is currently the head of mathematics at Escola l'Horitzó in Barcelona, where she integrates these resources into the school's mathematics curriculum. She is a member of MMACA, teaches training courses for teachers, and gives national and international outreach talks and lectures. She has recently created a YouTube channel in which she proposes examples of origami models and suggests related math challenges.
