The first European Barcelona Hypatia Prize recognizes Dr. László Lovász for his contribution to science and his conception of it as a service to society

Among the 23 applications received in the first call for the European Barcelona Hypatia Prize, in the Science and Technology category, the Evaluation Committee awards the prize to Dr. Lovász in recognition of his career dedicated to the highest level of international research and the impact generated in Hungarian society and the world, placing mathematics as a scientific discipline at the service of society

Dr. Lovász is a mathematician and president of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, and stands out for his findings in the field of graphene, combinatorics, and algorithms

The winner will give a lecture at the award ceremony, which will be held at Barcelona City Hall in early February next year.
