1st Conference on Mathematics + Computer Science of Ponent

We invite you to the 1st Conference on Mathematics + Computer Science of Ponent, on Saturday, March 22, in Lleida, jointly organized by several entities.

The conference arises from the entities' desire to highlight the territory and International Day of Mathematics (IDM314), coinciding with two very special activities: the celebration of the the Catalan Computer Science Olympiad (OICAT) and sessions of the Mathematical Talent Stimulus Program Estalmat Catalunya in Lleida.

Young people, teachers, and the general public are invited to the joint program starting at 12:15. This includes family members of OICat and Estalmat participants.
For teachers of the Department of Education, it is part of the permanent training plan via the ICE of the UdL.

ACTIVITIES

Lecture by Eva Miranda (UPC, ICREA, CRM)

Can we really predict the future?... Secret codes, oceanic chaos, and out-of-control asteroids: this journey takes us from mathematical certainty to the limits of prediction. Where does calculation end and chaos begin? And what if, as Turing showed, there are questions that will never have an answer?

Eva Miranda, ICREA researcher in mathematics at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, is an internationally renowned mathematician whose innovative contributions have redefined our understanding of numerous interconnected fields, building bridges between disciplines…

to enjoy mathematics

We jointly celebrate International Day of Mathematics:

  • Joint lunch at the Residence (tickets via form)
  • Post-lunch gathering with MMACA games
  • Transfer to the Seu Vella
  • Mathematical scavenger hunt at the Seu Vella
  • Guided tour of the Seu Vella
