We announce the call for the selection process for the nineteenth cohort of Estalmat-Catalonia (2021-2023)
Project objective ESTALMAT: The ESTALMAT project aims to stimulate the special ability and interest in Mathematics of Catalan students born in 2008 or 2009.
Activities: Saturdays during the school period of the 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 academic years, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Faculty of Mathematics and Statistics (FME) of the UPC, in Barcelona when in-person format is allowed, and in virtual mode if conditions do not permit it.
Registration deadline: until June 2, 2021
This year's selection (25 boys and girls) will have three phases:
Selection test. Saturday, June 5, 2021 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. It will be a test of concrete answer problems, which must be answered online. The evaluation of this test will serve to classify a certain number of students for the second phase.
The second phase, in which only the group of students selected based on the results of the first phase will participate, will be held on Saturday, June 12 and will be a test similar to that of recent years: problems requiring a reasoned explanation of the solution path.
- If circumstances allow, it will be held in person, possibly in Barcelona. It will take place at 10 a.m.
- The scores obtained from this phase will also not be made public, as they are only used to preselect the final group.
The third phase consists of personal interviews with the families of the preselected students based on the evaluation of the second phase.
