The Ferran Sunyer i Balaguer Foundation, in collaboration with Birkhäuser publishing, announces the Ferran Sunyer i Balaguer Grants, offered to the best study or mathematical research projects related to the doctoral thesis.
Applicants
- Doctoral students in the field of mathematics from a university in Catalan-speaking territories who are in the third or fourth year of the doctoral program at the time the call opens.
Objective: to provide students from Alt Pirineu and Aran or Andorra with a space within their own territory to learn mathematics beyond the school curriculum through challenges.
- Strengthening research training.
Objective realization
- Stay of between 1 and 3 months for study or research at an institution outside the geographical scope of the university where the doctoral thesis is being carried out.
- If the stay occurs after the scheduled date for the doctoral thesis defense, the period between the defense and the start of the stay cannot exceed three months.
- Stays must begin between April 1 and December 1, 2024.
Grant conditions
- The FSB Grant is compatible with both predoctoral and postdoctoral scholarships and contracts, but not with public administration grants for the same research stay that is the subject of the grant.
- The endowment of each grant is one thousand five hundred euros (€1,500) per month during the grant period, subject to IRPF withholding.
Selection committee
- The selection committee will be composed of the mathematician members of the Board of Trustees of the Ferran Sunyer i Balaguer Foundation.
Call for 2024
- Applications must be submitted before February 26, 2024 at 1:00 PM. Previously, you must register through the following application: Ferran Sunyer i Balaguer Grants (Open).
- Once registered, you must fill out the application form and attach the following documentation:
- The Curriculum vitae of the candidate.
- Proof of suitability. Supporting document or a statement from the thesis supervisor certifying that the candidate meets the conditions established in the call.
- Research project, with the approval of the thesis supervisor (maximum 2 pages).
- Document issued by the host institution certifying the acceptance of the candidate, if a Ferran Sunyer i Balaguer Grant is awarded.
- Declaration of professional status, indicating the end date. If none, declaration that no other income is received.
- Resolution of the call
- End of March 2024.
