The Role of Data in the World of Social Sciences
Third edition of the Data Conference organized by SCM, SoCe, and ACIA. It will take place on November 18, 2022, at the IEC
The Catalan Society of Mathematics (SCM), the Catalan Society of Statistics (SoCE), and the Catalan Association of Artificial Intelligence (ACIA), with the support of the CRM, following the tradition of the two previous conferences, dedicated to the business world the first (2019) and the biomedical world the second (2021), celebrate this year the third edition of the conference, called “The Role of Data in the World of Social Sciences,” specifically dedicated to the world of political science and communication sciences.
The celebration of this conference responds to the willingness of the three societies to collaborate in the promotion and dissemination of data analysis as a useful tool at the service of Catalan society and all its scientific, technological, business, and social sectors.
The organizers of this conference have been, in alphabetical order, Llorenç Badiela (SoCE), Eloi Puertas (ACIA), Aleix Ruiz de Villa (SCM), and Josep Vives (SCM).
The conference will consist of four lectures given by top-level specialists in their respective disciplines. The confirmed speakers are
- Marc Balaguer, economist and PhD in Public Policies and Social Transformation (Iválua – Catalan Institute for Public Policy Evaluation).
- Xavier Mora, PhD in Mathematics (Autonomous University of Barcelona - Ars Electionis)
- Victòria Oliveres, journalist (UPF) specialized in data analysis and visualization, interactivity, and video.
- Roger Tugas, journalist (UAB) specializing in data and transparency.

- Free registration for members of SCM, SoCE, and ACIA. For non-members, registration includes one year of membership fee for one of the three societies.
