On July 31, 2018 in Rio de Janeiro, the Committee for Women and Mathematics of the International Mathematical Union approved, at the proposal of the Iranian Mathematical Society, that May 12, Maryam Mirzakhani's birthday, be Women in Mathematics Day.
From the Catalan Society of Mathematics (SCM), we believe that we should promote and celebrate the mathematics done by women. This is already the third edition of the SCM Conference, Catalan Mathematics and we hope to hold many more.
This year we propose a day to enjoy a fantastic talk by Guadalupe Gómez on the figure of Florence Nightingale and the screening of a conversation between different Catalan women mathematicians.
