The associations of Catalan-speaking mathematics teachers FEEMCAT, SCM, SEMCV Al Khwarizmï, and SBM Xeix have awarded the Maria Antònia Canals 2019 prize for innovation in mathematics education to
Antoni Gomà i Nasarre
in recognition of his lifelong career as a mathematics teacher who has actively collaborated and continues to collaborate with various associations such as the Catalan Society of Mathematics or the Catalan Association of GeoGebra. Especially for his vision and commitment 24 years ago in introducing the Kangaroo tests, followed by other student-oriented activities such as the Kangaroo Cup, Sprint Problems, Problem Marathon, and Olitele, which have a strong social impact and currently involve the participation of thousands of students from Catalonia, the Valencian Community, and the Balearic Islands.
