The Barcelona Mathematical Days 2026 (BMD2026) has opened registrations. The fifth edition of the triennial international congress Catalan Society of Mathematics (SCM) will be held from October 7 to 9, 2026 at the’Institute of Catalan Studies (IEC), in Barcelona, and will bring together researchers from different areas of mathematics to share the latest advances in research, promote new collaborations, and foster knowledge exchange.
Organized by the SCM, the Barcelona Mathematical Days 2026 has become one of the main events for the mathematical community, both in Catalonia and internationally. The congress offers a top-level scientific program with plenary lectures, thematic sessions, special sessions, a round table, and social activities designed to encourage interaction among researchers from different disciplines.
Barcelona Mathematical Days 2026: a space to share research
Over three days, the Barcelona Mathematical Days 2026 will address some of the most relevant topics in current mathematical research. The program includes plenary lectures by internationally renowned mathematicians, as well as specialized sessions dedicated to different areas of the discipline.
Among the thematic sessions, there will be spaces dedicated to combinatorics, dynamical systems, geometric and algorithmic aspects of groups, mathematical modeling, stochastic analysis, arithmetic geometry, interactions between analysis, probability and partial differential equations, and topological data analysis.
The congress will also include special sessions, a round table on the challenges and trends in mathematical research, and various social activities that will facilitate contact among participants from different universities and research centers.
Call for posters for young researchers
One of the objectives of the Barcelona Mathematical Days 2026 is to give visibility to emerging research. For this reason, the SCM invites PhD students and the and early-career researchers to present a poster during the congress.
The poster session offers an excellent opportunity to share research results, receive feedback from specialist researchers, and establish new scientific contacts.
Proposals must be submitted through the platform actes.iec.cat, where participants can create a user and process their application. The poster submission deadline ends on July 31, 2026. Decisions on acceptance will be communicated as soon as possible.
Registrations for Barcelona Mathematical Days 2026
Registrations for the Barcelona Mathematical Days 2026 have been open since June 16 and can be formalized until September 30, 2026.
. People who complete their registration before September 4 will benefit from the reduced fee set by the organization. Registration is managed entirely through the platform actes.iec.cat, where each participant must select the corresponding category (student, SCM member, invited speaker, or general participant).
The form also allows registration for the official congress dinner, while information on additional social activities will be published shortly.
Help us spread the word
The Catalan Society of Mathematics invites the entire mathematical community to help promote the Barcelona Mathematical Days 2026. If you are part of a university, department, or research center, we encourage you to share this call with your colleagues.
On the congress website you will find the official BMD2026 posters in horizontal and vertical formats for you to download, print, and display at your centers.
