The latest international tests have shown that the results of Catalan students in Mathematics need significant improvement. Currently, we are in unfavorable positions within Europe and Spain, with a high percentage of students performing at low levels. Furthermore, aspects such as the gender gap and inequalities based on the socioeconomic profile of students continue to grow, highlighting the need for change.
It is time to address this challenge with serenity and determination, to reflect together and design proposals that help us improve the Catalan educational system, especially regarding the implementation of the curriculum in Primary, Secondary, and Baccalaureate.
What mathematical knowledge is essential at each educational stage? How can we ensure solid learning?
The Conferences “Anchors in the curriculum”, jointly organized by the Catalan Society of Mathematics and the College of Doctors and Graduates, are a space to reflect and debate on the essential minimums in mathematics teaching.
