Guillem Blanco, winner of the 2024 José Luis Rubio de França Award
The Royal Spanish Mathematical Society (RSME) has awarded the José Luis Rubio de Francia Award in its 2024 edition to researcher Guillem Blanco, in recognition of his exceptional contributions to the theory of D-modules and singularities of plane curves.
He studied for a degree in Mathematics, a master's in Mathematics, and later a doctorate in Mathematics at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC). He is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Leuven (Belgium), and next September he will join as a lecturer in the Department of Mathematics at the UPC.

Blanco solved the old Yano conjecture on the roots of the Bernstein–Sato polynomial associated with singularities of plane curves, and has shed light on the structure of this polynomial, which is a fundamental element in singularity theory. He has also proven key theorems on the poles and residues of the complex zeta function of irreducible singularities and has developed computational methods, such as the explicit calculation of invariants in singularity theory and Hodge theory. These relevant scientific results position him as a prominent young researcher in this field, at the intersection of algebra, analysis, and geometry.
Furthermore, Guillem Blanco was elected a member of the European Mathematical Society's “Young Academy” (EMYA) for the period 2023-2026, proposed by the Catalan Society of Mathematics; and he received the doctoral thesis award in mathematics in honor of Assumpció Català i Poch, granted by the Science and Technology Section of the IEC (2022).
Clara Torres and Raúl Alonso, winners of the 2025 Vicent Caselles Awards
On June 23, 2025, the Royal Spanish Mathematical Society (RSME) together with the BBVA Foundation 2022 announced the 6 winners of the Vicent Caselles Awards in the 2025 call, two of them to Clara Torres Latorre and to Raúl Alonso Rodríguez.
Clara Torres studied for a degree in Mathematics and Engineering Physics at the CFIS of the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC). Subsequently, she obtained a master's in Mathematics at the University of Barcelona (UB), where she continued her doctoral studies, completing her doctoral thesis in 2024, with Xavier Ros Oton.
Her research focuses on the field of partial differential equations, having made highly relevant contributions on Harnack inequalities at the boundary, but with the rigor and quality of her results, she has also stood out in the field of mathematical analysis.
In 2014, she was awarded the Silver Pin by the Catalan Society of Mathematics, after placing in the top two positions for four years in the Cangur Contest.

Raúl Alonso Rodríguez, graduated in Mathematics and Engineering Physics, also from the CFIS of the UPC, in 2018, and completed his doctorate at Princeton University in 2023. Since July 2023, he has been a Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of California (Santa Barbara).
His contributions fall within the field of algebraic number theory and arithmetic geometry, areas on which he already focused his doctoral thesis, in which he studied special values of L-functions, related to the Birch–Swinnerton-Dyer and Bloch–Kato conjectures, and Iwasawa theory. Much of his work has focused on developing new Euler systems associated with various L-functions for eigenforms, obtaining exceptional results highly valued by the number theory community.
