CEMat has launched an initiative to coordinate the different initiatives of the Spanish mathematical community related to the health crisis due to COVID-19.
For this purpose, it has created the link CEMatCovid-19 where you can consult all the information that is being received on the matter. At the same time, it has generated the email address cemat.covid19@gmail.com to channel the different contributions.
The action protocol is:
- Researchers post their contributions on their own website and send the relevant link via the address cemat.covid19@gmail.com to publish the link on the CEMat website. All received links will be posted, with the understanding that the repositories of each group or researchers will evolve.
- Interaction and discussion among researchers about the different contributions is promoted.
- The Scientific Committee, created by CEMat based on suggestions from the associated entities, studies the contributions and interacts internally with the researchers.
This committee is composed of the following researchers: Lluis Alsedà i Soler, Ricardo Cao Abad (President), José Antonio Cuesta Ruiz, Ernesto Estrada Roger, David Gómez Ullate, Fermín F. Mallor Giménez, Victor M. Pérez García, Ángel Manuel Ramos de Olmo, Begona Vitoriano Villanueva. As President of CEMat, Alfonso Gordaliza will act as Coordinator.
The first task this committee will address is a quick discussion on two key issues (taken from the CEMat community):
- What data should be requested from the Government to be able to work, for example, data on the evolution of the epidemic, microdata of diagnosed cases, surveys, data on available resources, etc.
What can we offer the Government from Mathematics: modeling of the epidemic and forecasts, exploitation of available databases, help for optimal planning of resources, etc.
For more information on the purposes and tasks of the committee, see Conclusions. We also attach the successful proposal to the Government through the Secretary General of Education Proposal for collaboration
