The Cangur Cup 2026 was held yesterday, January 28, in venues distributed throughout Catalonia and also in Castelló and Valencia. The competition, organized by the Catalan Society of Mathematics, brought together nearly 8,000 compulsory secondary education students, who participated in teams in a day marked by mathematical reasoning, strategy, and cooperative work.
The competition, aimed at students from all ESO courses, took place simultaneously in different parts of the territory. The teams, made up of seven students from the same school, had one hour to solve a set of mathematical problems in a dynamic, timed format with variable scoring, which tested decision-making ability and coordination among the members of each group.
The Cangur Cup has established itself as an educational initiative that promotes mathematics beyond the classroom, fostering logical thinking, debate, and teamwork in a motivating environment. The best-ranked teams from each venue will advance to the final phase, which will be held in the spring, where the winners of this edition will be decided.
