This is the second edition of this event, conceived in solidarity due to the concerning situation of Azat Miftakhov.
Azat Miftakhov is a young Russian doctoral student from Moscow University who was arbitrarily detained in February 2019. In January 2021, he was sentenced to 6 years in prison. He is currently serving his sentence in Omutninsk. On the website https://caseazatmiftakhov.org/ you will find all the information about the case. Of particular interest is the tab fact sheet which recounts the specific facts of his detention and sentencing.
The Azat Miftakhov Days will be divided into two sessions on July 5 and 6. Registration is required at Azat registration.
The first session (July 5 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM) is titled Honoring the new generation of Russian mathematicians committed to human rights with the participation of Ilya Dumanski (MIT), Alexander Petrov (Harvard), and Slava Rychkov (IHES).
The second session (July 6 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM), Assessing the human rights situation in Russia through the cases of persecuted academics (in person at École normale supérieure in Paris and online) organized by the Azat Miftakhov Committee and the Memorial Human Rights Center, with the participation of various mathematicians and members of human rights organizations.
You can find all the information at https://caseazatmiftakhov.org/2022/02/15/azat-miftakhov-days-july-5-6-2022/ and the poster at Azat poster.
