The prize committee highlighted his fundamental contributions to the regularity theory of nonlinear equations, including free boundary problems and the Monge-Amp\u00e8re equation.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-4540\" src=\"https:\/\/scm.iec.cat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Cafarelli.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"841\" height=\"537\" srcset=\"https:\/\/scm.iec.cat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Cafarelli.jpg 540w, https:\/\/scm.iec.cat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Cafarelli-300x192.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 841px) 100vw, 841px\" \/><\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Argentine-born mathematician, aged 74, is a professor at the University of Texas at Austin and has worked with Catalan mathematicians such as Xavier Ros Oton, Joaquim Serra, and especially Xavier Cabr\u00e9, with whom he published a book in 1995 that has become a classic in the field.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Caffarelli delivered the inaugural lecture of the Poincar\u00e9 course (2003-04) at the Faculty of Mathematics and Statistics of the UPC.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Congratulations!<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Luis Caffarelli ha rebut el premi Abel 2023 pels seus treballs en equacions en derivades parcials.
