The Catalan Society of Mathematics (SCM)<\/strong> participates in the 19th edition of the Science Festival<\/strong>, which takes place on April 18 and 19, 2026<\/strong> at El Born. Museum of History of Barcelona and at Pla\u00e7a Comercial. The event offers over 180 activities to bring science and technology closer to all audiences.<\/p>\n

In this context, the SCM organizes the workshop<\/p>\n

\nSpace 07-Math Challenges<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Math challenges to think and enjoy<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The workshop is aimed at all audiences, from the youngest to participate as a family, to the most experienced, or in small groups. The activity proposes solving math challenges in a participatory and playful format, with the aim of fostering interest in mathematics through play, curiosity, and challenge.<\/p>\n

The content is inspired by problems from the Cangur Contest<\/strong>, a consolidated SCM activity that promotes mathematical problem-solving among primary and secondary school students, and which plays a prominent role in this workshop.<\/p>\n

The Telecangur: a digital continuity initiative<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The workshop challenges take as a reference the Telecangur<\/strong>, an initiative launched by the SCM in 2020. Given the impossibility of holding the contest in person, a digital platform was created that provides access to a wide selection of Kangaroo problems, presented in blocks with immediate self-assessment. Remember that it is available to you through\u00a0 the contests page<\/a>.<\/p>\n

This proposal was very well received and continues to be a useful resource for learning and practicing mathematics.<\/p>\n

This Saturday, play as a family to earn points collaboratively, as an opportunity for mathematical conversation.<\/p>\n

NEWS: live mini-math countdowns<\/strong><\/h3>\n

With user registration on the math countdown website, the live mini-countdowns, synchronously and in person, will be a unique opportunity.
\nThere will be prizes for the best participants.<\/p>\n

Female Voices in Mathematics<\/h3>\n

Women in mathematics will also be present, with a sample of the #JovesMatem\u00e0tiquesCatalanes collection, with an associated activity, as we are preparing for May 12, but showing that talent has no gender is not just a one-day thing. <\/span><\/p>\n

There will also be a very special element at the stand to show the <\/span>ONCE's commitment to mathematics<\/b>, with whom we have been collaborating for years to make the Cangur tests accessible.
\nAnyone who wishes can have their photo taken with the giant poster of the coupon with the image provided by Pilar Bayer, which is precisely raffled off on April 18.<\/span><\/p>\n

Mathematics within a major scientific event<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The Science Festival has established itself as one of the main scientific outreach events in Barcelona, with activities in fields such as neuroscience, the environment, technology, or the universe.<\/p>\n

With its participation, the SCM reaffirms its commitment to outreach and the promotion of mathematics as a fundamental tool for understanding the world.<\/p>\n

Mathematics is also present in the activities of the MMACA<\/a>, participating in the Festival for years, which you will also find mostly in space 07-Mathematical Challenges at complementary times. Many people participate with various activities, such as the\u2019activity on Moebius strips<\/a>, announced by the FME.<\/p>\n
