{"id":1817,"date":"2018-06-23T18:11:19","date_gmt":"2018-06-23T16:11:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/scm.iec.cat\/?p=1817"},"modified":"2023-05-15T09:50:30","modified_gmt":"2023-05-15T09:50:30","slug":"nou-equip-per-dirigir-la-ems-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/scm.iec.cat\/eng\/nou-equip-per-dirigir-la-ems-3\/","title":{"rendered":"New team to lead the EMS"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Meeting of the Council of the European Mathematical Society<\/p>\n<h2><strong>The Assembly (Council) of the EMS has elected the new leadership team for the next 4 years.<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The new EMS team will be led by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.math.tu-berlin.de\/fachgebiete_ag_modnumdiff\/fg_numerische_mathematik\/v_menue\/mitarbeiter\/mehrmann\/home\/parameter\/en\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Volker Mehrmann<\/a> (Germany) as president and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.math.boun.edu.tr\/index.php?option=com_content&amp;task=section&amp;id=26&amp;Itemid=321\" rel=\"noopener\">Bet\u00fcl Tanbay<\/a> (Turkey) as vice president. The secretary <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uu.nl\/staff\/SMVerduynLunel\" rel=\"noopener\">Sjoerd Verduyn Lunel<\/a> (Netherlands) and the treasurer <a href=\"http:\/\/www.helsinki.fi\/~mgyllenb\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Mats Gyllenberg<\/a> (Finland) continue. There was only one candidate for each position. Volker Mehrmann was the chair of ECM2016 in Berlin.<\/p>\n<p>Subsequently, the assembly elected <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uc.pt\/iii\/romuloccv\/presencas_no_romulo\/jorge_buescu\" rel=\"noopener\">Jorge Buescu<\/a> (Portugal) as a member of the EMS \u00abin-large\u00bb committee.<\/p>\n<p>Both votes were taken at the EMS assembly held in Prague on the weekend of June 23-24, 2018.
