Through awards organized by the Catalan Society of Mathematics (SCM), a subsidiary of the IEC, the Section of Sciences and Technology, and the Ferran Sunyer i Balaguer Foundation (FFSB), also linked to the IEC, the commitment to quality mathematical research, scientific dissemination, and recognition of young talent in mathematics is reaffirmed.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"532\" data-end=\"591\"><strong>Winners and Recognitions 2025<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"592\" data-end=\"746\">This year, the awardees in mathematics were as follows.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"748\" data-end=\"797\"><strong>Albert Dou Award: Mathematical Dissemination<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"798\" data-end=\"1049\">The <strong data-start=\"801\" data-end=\"826\">Albert Dou Prize 2025<\/strong> has been awarded to <strong data-start=\"846\" data-end=\"862\">Jaume Aguad\u00e9<\/strong> for her work <em>Analysis of a Rubik-type puzzle. A pretext to talk about modeling, geometry, <\/em><em>computation and programming. Starting from an everyday problem, Aguad\u00e9 combines various mathematical areas such as geometry, group theory, and computation, achieving an excellent dissemination work. Regarding Nasarre's work, it highlights the quality and clarity of the exposition of the mathematical results used, as well as the clear, methodical, and detailed development of the calculations necessary for the creation of the graphic software that he developed and made public on github.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1518\" data-end=\"1776\">This award highlights the potential and excellence of <strong data-start=\"1743\" data-end=\"1775\">new talents in mathematics<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\" data-start=\"1518\" data-end=\"1776\"><a href=\"https:\/\/scm.iec.cat\/eng\/premis\/premi-emmy-noether\/#titol-17\">\u00c9variste Galois Award 2025: Mathematical Research<\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3 data-start=\"1778\" data-end=\"1846\"><strong>IEC Mathematics Award of the SECCT<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1847\" data-end=\"2170\">The IEC Mathematics Award, in honor of the mathematician and astronomer <strong data-start=\"1927\" data-end=\"1954\">Assumpci\u00f3 Catal\u00e0 i Poch<\/strong>, is called every three years to distinguish the excellence of doctoral theses in mathematics (defended in the last five years) and is awarded by the Section of Sciences and Technology of the IEC.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1847\" data-end=\"2170\">The <strong>IEC Mathematics Award 2025<\/strong> has been awarded to <strong data-start=\"1975\" data-end=\"1993\">Robert Cardona<\/strong> for his doctoral thesis: <em>The geometry and topology of stationary Euler flows, integrability, and singular geometric structures<\/em>, defended in 2021, within the framework of the UPC doctoral program, supervised by Eva Miranda.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1847\" data-end=\"2170\">Also awarded were <strong data-start=\"2057\" data-end=\"2082\">honorable mentions<\/strong> to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-start=\"1847\" data-end=\"2170\"><strong data-start=\"2085\" data-end=\"2099\">Mar Giralt<\/strong>, for the doctoral thesis <em>Homoclinic and chaotic phenomena in <span class=\"katex\"><span class=\"katex-mathml\">L3_3<\/span><span class=\"katex-html\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><span class=\"base\"><span class=\"mord\"><span class=\"mord mathnormal\">L<\/span><span class=\"msupsub\"><span class=\"vlist-t vlist-t2\"><span class=\"vlist-r\"><span class=\"vlist\"><span class=\"sizing reset-size6 size3 mtight\"><span class=\"mord mtight\">3<\/span><\/span><\/span><span class=\"vlist-s\">\u200b<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span> in the restricted three-body problem<\/em>, read in 2022, within the framework of the UPC doctoral program, supervised by Inma Baldom\u00e0 and Marcel Gu\u00e0rdia.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1847\" data-end=\"2170\"><strong data-start=\"2102\" data-end=\"2118\">Clara Torres<\/strong>, for the doctoral thesis <em>Regularity theory for obstacle problems and Harnack inequalities at the boundary<\/em>, read in 2024, within the framework of the UB doctoral program, supervised by Xavier Ros Oton.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<figure id=\"attachment_17762\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-17762\" style=\"width: 341px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/scm.iec.cat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/WhatsApp-Image-2025-04-23-at-18.06.42.jpeg\" alt=\"Premi IEC de la Secci\u00f3 de Ci\u00e8ncies i Tecnologia de Matem\u00e0tiques\" width=\"341\" height=\"256\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-17762\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em>Prize for doctoral theses in mathematics, awarded by the Section of Sciences and Technology of the IEC<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<hr \/>\n<h3 data-start=\"2172\" data-end=\"2229\"><strong>Ferran Sunyer i Balaguer Foundation Awards (FFSB)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul data-start=\"2231\" data-end=\"2598\">\n<li data-start=\"2231\" data-end=\"2338\">\n<p data-start=\"2233\" data-end=\"2338\"><strong data-start=\"2233\" data-end=\"2267\">Ferran Sunyer i Balaguer Prize<\/strong>: This award recognizes an original and unpublished mathematical monograph.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2339\" data-end=\"2472\">\n<p data-start=\"2341\" data-end=\"2472\"><strong data-start=\"2341\" data-end=\"2374\">Mathematics and Society Prize<\/strong>: Awarded by the FFSB to encourage the presence of mathematics in the media.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2473\" data-end=\"2598\">\n<p data-start=\"2475\" data-end=\"2598\"><strong data-start=\"2475\" data-end=\"2510\">Ferran Sunyer i Balaguer Grants<\/strong>: Financial grants for mathematical research aimed at researchers in training.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3 data-start=\"2600\" data-end=\"2669\"><strong>A commitment to mathematical research and scientific dissemination<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"2670\" data-end=\"3012\">The <strong data-start=\"2674\" data-end=\"2699\">IEC Mathematics Awards<\/strong> not only recognize young talent and excellence in research, but also the task of disseminating mathematics in an accessible way to society.
