Next Thursday, March 13, Meike Akveld<\/strong>, president of the\u2019Association Kangourou sans Fronti\u00e8re<\/a>s (AKSF), will visit the\u2019Institute of Catalan Studies<\/a>(IEC) in Barcelona. Her presence represents a great opportunity to strengthen ties between the Catalan mathematical community and this European network.<\/p>\n

A bridge between mathematical societies<\/h3>\n

The\u2019AKSF<\/strong> brings together mathematical societies from across Europe with the aim of promoting research, outreach, and cooperation. The organization actively works to connect institutions, support educational and scientific initiatives, and promote events that highlight the importance of mathematics in society.<\/p>\n

Meike Akveld: mathematics as a fundamental tool<\/h3>\n

In a recent interview with the Barcelona City Council, Meike Akveld<\/strong> she highlighted the essential role of mathematics in our daily lives:<\/p>\n

Agenda of Meike Akveld's visit to Barcelona<\/h3>\n

During her stay in Barcelona, Meike Akveld<\/strong> she will meet with representatives of the Catalan Society of Mathematics<\/strong> and other institutions to learn about current initiatives and explore possible collaborations.<\/p>\n

On March 14, coinciding with the International Day of Mathematics<\/strong>, she will give the lecture \u201cWhy do we need to celebrate mathematics?\u201d<\/strong> at the Sal\u00f3 de Cent of the Barcelona City Council<\/strong>. This day, recognized by UNESCO, commemorates the importance of mathematics in society, coinciding with Pi Day (3\/14)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

According to Akveld:<\/p>\n

\u201cThe world faces difficult challenges, and we need the next generation to solve some of them. To do so, they must see the relevance of mathematics from an early age.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
